Mezza and Jacques Scott Pair Up
"The Cayman Islands Journal", September
2007
Mezza and Jacques Scott pair up In a bid to help you get
the most from your dining experience, the experts at Mezza
restaurant and Jacques Scott wine merchants have created a
selection of food and wine pairings that should really get
the tastebuds going The Journal reports.
Mezza Restaurant and Bar owners Guy Jackson and Alexander
Frerk decided it was timely to put together a series of wine
and food pairing promotions because customer demand on the
subject was high.
Guy confirms, “We noticed how many wine pairing recommendations
we were asked to give per night, so we thought we would take
the next step and create a selection of pairings to complement
the food served at Mezza.”
Guy says that pairing the perfect wine with the ever changing
menu at Mezza entails deep research and understanding.
He says, “We sat down with our staff and worked our
way through the menu trying different food and wine combinations.
It was extremely fun and tasty research, but absolutely necessary
to create the perfect pairing of wine and food.”
Leading the decisionmaking process was Mezza’s
head chef Clarence Pinto who created a number of Mezza’s
signature dishes.
He then worked in conjunction with wine representatives
from Jacques Scott and the Mezza floor staff to create this
first series of pairings.
The particular dishes chosen for the best parings were then
photographed with their ideal wine pairing and attached to
an off premise display located at Jacques Scott’s Fine
Wines on the corner of Shedden Road and North Sound Road.
Guy states, “The overwhelming response has been a topic
conversation for the last month. Customers frequently request
the exact food and wine pairing that they saw at Jacques Scott
since the display has gone up. The Mezza staff is excited
that the food and wine pairing research will continue in the
future, for the benefit and enjoyment of everyone involved.”
Look out for new exciting food and wine pairing suggestions
in the coming months at Mezza and Jacques Scott.
