Corporate
history

In 1962, Mr Anthony Jacques Scott began buying beer, soft drinks and spirits from wholesalers in Jamaica for sale to the general public in the Cayman Islands. Mr Scott operated the business from his home.

Jacques Scott Group Ltd. (“the Company”) was incorporated in the Cayman Islands in March 1972 under the name Investment Corporation Limited, to acquire Jacques Scott and Company Limited and other import companies which have since been amalgamated.

1979

In 1979 the Company adopted its present name.
The Company has since diversified and become the largest importer of fine wines, beers and spirits into the Islands. It has also expanded into frozen and dry foods, juices, soft drinks, tobacco, fresh produce, restaurant equipment and associated lines.

1990

In 1990 Jacques Scott (Retail) Ltd. became the holding company for all the Group’s retail liquor stores.

1993

Between 1993 and 1995, the Company acquired The Wine Cellar Ltd., a distributor and retailer of fine wines, soft drinks and gourmet foods. This business included a retail store in the Galleria Plaza, which remains an important outlet and is now operated under Jacques Scott (Retail) Ltd.

1999

In March 1999, the Company acquired 60% (now 69%) of the shares in Island Supply Co Ltd., which operates as a wholesaler of food (fresh, frozen and dry) and foodservice products as well as servicing and supplying restaurant equipment for the hotel and restaurant trade.

2003

In 2003, the Company entered into a joint venture agreement with Island Companies Ltd (now Blackbeard’s Trading Company Ltd), one of the largest duty free operators in the Cayman Islands. Principal
operations

Jacques Scott Group is incorporated in the Cayman Islands and is the leading wholesaler and retailer of beers, wines and spirits in these Islands. It also distributes soft drinks, food and food service products to the hotel, restaurant, supermarket, institutional and other retail outlet sectors.

From modest origins in the 1960s, Jacques Scott has become a major Caymanian company serving the territory’s domestic market and foodservice sector. Its four operating divisions employ some 130 people. The company started out as a beer, soft drinks and spirits importer, with a limited range of food products, wines and champagnes. It has built up a portfolio of excellent relationships with many of the world’s leading suppliers and therefore is a leader in most product categories in which it operates.

Giving back to the community is part of Jacques Scott’s DNA and since 1962 the Company has embraced the Cayman Islands, fostering partnerships, sponsoring and supporting fundraisers, charities, service clubs, sporting, school and culinary events, while working with people from every corner of Cayman’s community.
