The Story of Jack Daniel’s Whiskey
In 1864, Jasper “Jack” Newton Daniel debuted Old No. 7, the signature Tennessee Whiskey we’ve come to love, and in 1866, the Jack Daniel Distillery was founded. It was the first registered distillery in the United States.
Old No. 7 is an award-winning whiskey, having received seven gold medals, beginning in 1904 at the World’s Fair.
The period of 1911-1940 is marked by challenging times including Prohibition and the Great Depression.
During the peak of WWII, Jack Daniels paused all production in order to support the war effort.
By 1951, production had nearly returned to levels before Prohibition. In the time since, the brand has become more and more popular, widely associated with the music scene, expanded with new flavors, and continues to honor the traditional legacy of the brand.

Ingredients:
- 2 oz. Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 (Black Label)
- Coca-cola
Instructions:
- Prepare a serving glass by filling ¾ of the way with ice cubes. (Highball glass)
- Pour the whiskey over the ice.
- Top with coca-cola.
Jack & Ginger
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ oz. Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7
- ¼ oz. Italian Bitter Apéritif
- Ginger ale
- Orange slice or grapefruit peel for garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare a highball serving glass with ice.
- Add the whiskey and apéritif.
- Top with ginger ale.
- Garnish with your choice of garnish.
Cinnamon Smashed Apple
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire
- 1 oz. sour mix or lemon-lime simple syrup
- Apple cider
Instructions:
- Prepare a tumbler service glass by filling with ice.
- Add the whiskey, then the sour mix or simple syrup, and then top with apple cider.
- Gently swirl the tumbler.
- Garnish with a fresh apple slice, dusted with cinnamon.
