IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CHAMPAGNE

Champagne refers to sparkling wine created in the Champagne region of France. The same product, sparkling wines, can’t be called Champagne, much like sweet yellow onions grown outside of a specific region in Vidalia, GA, can’t be called Vidalia onions.

Identify the quality of a sparkling wine or champagne by the size of the bubbles. The bubble size is inversely proportional – the higher the quality of the champagne, the smaller the bubbles.

Serve champagne in a champagne flute. Failing to do so will make a poor impression and lessen the bubbles’ visibility and experience.

As for temperature, the rule is chilled, not cold. The ideal temp is between 46-50° F (8-10° C), which you can achieve by chilling for 20 minutes in an ice, water, and salt mixture or storing in the lowest refrigerator shelf for three hours.

The servers at your wedding should understand how to best serve champagne – with a white towel, the label pointed toward the guest, and the bottle held firmly from the bottom.
