Wine, any time – and of course, in our Cayman hot weather

The Caribbean is HOT but that doesn’t mean that you cannot enjoy some gorgeous wines that I like to classify as “Beach wine”. Whether you enjoy sparkling, white, rose, or even red, there are wonderful options to stave off the hot weather and enjoy a cheeky beverage at the beach.

Let’s start with sparkling!

At Jacques Scott Wines & Spirits we have endless options in the deliciously refreshing bubbles, category. Our Cava, both Pares Balta and Freixenet are fresh and bright and are made using the traditional champagne method to achieve the highest quality result, possible. Though made using the champagne method, Cava uses three Spanish grape varietals, Xarel-Lo, Macabeo, and Parellada which produce an incredible flavour of apple, citrus, and flowers. An excellent slow Sunday sipper.

If Cava isn’t your thing, what about Prosecco?

Traditionally made with the Glera grape, prosecco is famous for it’s mimosas and bellinis, which in my humble opinion, is the best way to consume prosecco. Bursting with flavors of lemon, pear, apple, and a tangy citrus backbone (and slightly sweeter than it’s champagne cousin), a mimosa makes for a great warm weather refresher. Whether you’re at brunch, or soaking up the sun, we have a huge variety to meet your prosecco needs. Whether it’s Astoria, Lunetta, LaMarca, or Torresella, we have a prosecco for you!

Let’s move on to white wine…

If you’re looking for something sweeter to go with the salt of the sea, Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett is a great option. Light bodied, with a crisp apple taste, and a citrusy undertone, this juicy Riesling is a perfect beach sipper, or to even go with a traditional jerk BBQ dish.

If sweet isn’t your thing, a nice dry sauvignon blanc might be a treat. Whether you love the taste of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, with the flavours of grapefruit and gooseberry or a Sancerre with it’s minerality, citrus and grassy notes, there will be something for you. Nautilus from New Zealand is oh so unique. With the traditional flavours of grapefruit, combined with the nontraditional smoky, and grassy notes it is a spectacular purchase. There are too many amazing Sancerres to choose from in our collection, whether it’s LaDoucette, Chateau Sanerre, or Pascal Jolivet, you cannot go wrong.

If you’re a firm red wine drinker, we have just the wine for our hot days.

Beaujolais, made with a gamay grape, is notorious for being light, fresh and fruity without being sweet, and is wonderful served lightly chilled, and who doesn’t want a nice cold drink in this heat?
