In 2000, Arturo Lomeli founded Clase Azul to produce authentic, high-quality tequila. The name of the tequila line pays homage to a popular telenovela called Azul Tequila.

The flavors of Clase Azul Reposado come from the American whisky barrels used for aging the tequila. Tasting notes for the spirit focus on warm flavors like caramel and vanilla.
How the Tequila Is Made
Clase Azul Reposado has a unique flavor as well as a unique bottle. The climate, soil, and altitude contribute to the blue agave flavor that provides the distillation materials.
The agave used to create Clase Azul Reposado grows for a minimum of six years for full flavor maturity, and it’s then cooked over three days in traditional stone ovens to bring out the sugars needed for the distillation process.
Once cooked, pressing methods extract the materials for fermentation and then combine them with yeast to begin the process. Double distillation processes result in a quality tequila ready for packaging as Clase Azul Plato or for aging.
Reposado tequilas have been aged. Clase Azul Reposado rests for eight months in whisky barrels, giving it flavor, color, and a smooth finish.
The Drinking Experience
- On the nose, Clase Azul Reposado has the scent of traditional tequila, elevated with cinnamon, nutmeg, and other warm spices and flavors.
- Upon first taste, the tequila has a sweetness that grows into oaky citrus and finishes with well-textured vanilla spice. Each sip builds upon the last for a complex sipping experience.
- Store your Clase Azul Tequila Reposado at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. The bottle is meant to be displayed.
