Serving up Rory McIlroy’s favourite wines at home in Cayman

When you win the Masters in back-to-back years, that earns you the privilege of hosting the following year’s Champions Dinner. It sounds like a big deal, because it is in the golf world. Rory won in both 2025 and 2026 — a historic achievement shared by only Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods — and put together a fantastic dinner menu for the 2026 event.

From what we understand the dinner attracts plenty of critique, so when it came to the wine at his hosted event, Rory didn’t hold back.

Rory Wine Pairing
1990 Chateau Lafite Rothschild was on Rory’s Champions Dinner wine list in 2026.

April 7, 2026, the exclusive event took place that included past champions and the current club chairman to name a few. The event is revered and a highly anticipated night of champions.

Obviously the food is important — dishes included yellowfin tuna carpaccio, wagyu filet mignon or seared salmon for the main course. The Northern Irishman (“Norn-Iron”) didn’t hide from the yummy local Cayman fav, sticky toffee pudding, for his dessert choice.

Where there is exquisite food, there is incredible wine — and that’s where we got excited. McIlroy spoke to various media outlets and discussed his wine selections in detail, noting it’s his “favourite part of the menu.” Well we agree Rory, and we’re happy to stock a beautiful red from this particular vineyard, the Chateau Lafite Rothschild. Not the same vintage, but we know you’ll enjoy it just the same.

Some of the wines Rory enjoyed putting on his menu offer odes to his personal story, including the 1989 Chateau d’Yquem — chosen because he was born in 1989, and because he believes every great meal should be finished with it. “It is like liquid gold.”

Did we mention he picks up the bill for the entire dinner? He does. He’s spared no expense with his wine choices and while we probably aren’t getting invited to that dinner, we’d love to host Rory in Cayman for a proper drop of wine in the Caribbean.

Enjoy a drop from Rory McIlroy’s Masters Champions Dinner wines:

  • 2015 Salon S Brut Le Mesnil-sur-Oger
  • 2022 Domaine Leflaive Batard-Montrachet

  • 1989 Chateau d’Yquem

The good news? You don’t have to win a Major to enjoy.

Jacques Scott has the Château Lafite Rothschild 2017 in stock right now — an elegant, mineral-driven Bordeaux with aromas of blackcurrant, lilac and graphite, and the kind of long, precise finish that feels like a Sunday back nine in perfect weather.

Only 6 bottles available at time of posting.
